The Used-A-Bit Shoppe, located at 624 Water South in Northfield MN, is a volunteer-based, non-profit store benefitting FiftyNorth Senior Center. The store offers a wide variety of gently used furniture, household items (including kitchenware, linens, and home décor), toys and puzzles, jewelry, estate items and collectibles. Please see the detailed list of items that are and are not accepted below.
Donations that are clean and in good condition are accepted Tuesday-Friday (10am-2pm) and Saturday (10am-noon) at the back entrance on the river side of the store. Furniture donations are by pre-approval only by first texting a picture of the furniture item(s) to 507-403-1488.
Store hours are Monday-Saturday from 10am-5pm.
Purpose: All proceeds directly support programs for senior citizens at FIftyNorth.

DONATING TO THE USED-A-BIT SHOPPE
We accept CLEAN, GENTLY USED household items
Tuesdays – Fridays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-Noon
at the BACK entrance on the river side of the River Park Mall
(look for the ramp by the double doors just past the big brown deck).

We accept the following household items if they are CLEAN and in GOOD CONDITION:
• Kitchen items, office supplies, household items, linens and bedding (no vacuum cleaners)
• Small appliances, lamps and electronics (in good working condition)
• Area rugs (clean and in good condition)
• Tools
• Puzzles for adults; toys and puzzles for ages 5+ (no infant items)
• Collectibles, art objects, home décor
• Christmas décor
• Jewelry
• Film cameras, record albums
• Suitcases: vintage and newer suitcases with wheels (no suitcases without wheels)
• Furniture upon pre-approval
• Shower seats, walkers, electric scooters, toilet lifts, bedside commodes (send picture for approval)
We DO NOT accept:
• Light bulbs or Christmas trees
• Books and magazines (other than craft, sewing and knitting)
• Clothes (please donate them to the Community Action Center’s Clothes Closet)
• Baby/child equipment (such as high chairs, strollers, pack & plays)
• Large stuffed animals or toys too big to sit on a shelf
• Exercise equipment too large to fit on a shelf (no bowling balls, treadmills, bikes)
• Out-of-season or LARGE sporting equipment (golf clubs, skis, etc.)
• Office desks (unless antique)
• Televisions, computers, printers and copiers; VHS tapes and players
• Hard-wired fixtures (ceiling lights and fans); used blinds, drapes, traverse rods, screens
• Large household furniture and appliances
o Items weighing over 50 pounds, disassembled furniture, or large entertainment centers, pianos and organs
o Major appliances (refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and dishwashers)
o Mattresses, bed frames, box springs, air mattresses, waterbeds, and used bed pillows due to hygiene regulations
• Unsanitary or damaged goods
o Soiled items (clothing or furniture with mold, mildew, pet hair or strong odors)
o Construction waste (scrap lumber, bricks, toilets, sinks, plumbing pipes)
o Broken goods (toys with missing parts, chipped glassware, electronics that no longer function)
• Safety and hazardous materials
o Recalled items. Any item listed on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website, including certain baby gear & exercise equipment.
o Hazardous chemicals (opened paint cans, cleaning supplies, pesticides and pool chemicals)
o Flammables (chemicals, used sprayers, propane tanks, kerosene, fuel cans, ammunition, and fireworks)
o Medical waste (hypodermic needles, biohazard materials, and used medical supplies)
Prohibited Donation Practices
• After Hours Dumping. Donors are strictly warned against leaving items outside. This can lead to theft, weather damage, and local littering as well as safety risks and high disposal costs– and turns potentially useful donations into trash.
