Larry Walsh, who has donated his technological skills with computers to the Senior Center and CAC, is offering a class to grandparents that will give them a way to encourage their tech-minded grandchildren. Larry will teach about a real computer, the Raspbery Pi, which costs just $37 and is the size of a credit card. Grandparents Encouraging Computer Skills

2-3pm: Presentation/Demo 3 – 4:30pm: Q & A
Do your grandchildren seem to have an aptitude for tech-stuff? You can help them turn that interest into a marketable skill. You will learn how to help your grandchildren go beyond using “Apps” to understanding how-the-heck those “Apps” are built.
This class will give you:
1) hands-on experience of assembling a complete Raspberry Pi computer system that might encourage mechanically-minded grandchildren
2) examples of creating computer games and art-work using the Scratch programming language.
3) plenty of time for Q & A
For you, a non-stressful introduction to understanding what might excite a grandchild to become interested in tech toys and games. If you like logic and can overcome the frustration of the unforgiving nature of computers or computer programs, this session will be fun.
Caveat: This is not a class aimed to solve any problems you may be currently having with technology.
