Monday, January 14, 11:30-1:00 $15
Join us for a delicious chicken salad lunch catered by the Hideaway and a fascinating program on Jewell Wolk’s story quilts. Jewell Wolk’s daughter, Jean Wakely of Northfield, will talk about her mother’s unique story quilt project. Among the nine story quilts she created is a quilt about a typical day in a one-room schoolhouse. This amazingly detailed quilt, called The Purple Sandwich, depicts the classroom and yard around it. We will find out what is hidden in the secret pocket on the back of the quilt and what the purple sandwich is all about as Jean shares the delightful stories the quilt depicts, taking us all back to the days of country school. The audience will also have an opportunity to share their own or their parents’ one-room school house memories. For more information about this fascinating story quilt project, check out this website: http://storyquiltproject.com (and come to the luncheon).
Cost is $15 for all members. Registration deadline is tomorrow, January 10th
You may register in person, on the phone (664-3700), or on this website. Click on the Sign Ups + tab above, then go to the calendar, and click on the date of the luncheon (January 14)
