Thursday, August 28, 10:00-11:30
For five weeks last year, Graison Hensley Chapman and Soraya Dangor traveled to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian territories as the first winners of the Ruth Hansen Palestine Travel Scholarship from Northfielders for Justice in Palestine/Israel. They lived with a Palestinian Christian family outside Bethlehem, which is in the West Bank, and also traveled throughout the West Bank and Israel. On their trip they volunteered with nonprofits for children and seniors, and they also met with Palestinian, Israeli, and international peace activists. Graison, 25, is a reporter who works regularly with the Star Tribune; Soraya, 24, is a regular substitute teacher at Prairie Creek Community School while she earns her MA in education at Augsburg College. She is a graduate of St. Olaf College.
