This Still Life Drawing class offers the opportunity to learn and practice studio-style still-life sketching in graphite or charcoal. Over the course of 3 hours, we will each create multiple 2-D artworks: several brief practice sketches as well as a final, developed still-life drawing. Artists at any skill level can join me and a unique still-life display of various objects; together we will exercise skills and techniques designed to hone our artistic eyes and objective viewing abilities. Basic materials (pencils, paper, erasers, drawing boards/easels) will be provided, but artists are welcome to bring their own drawing supplies.

A Tea Cup bird feeder is a charming, upcycled garden accent that consists of a vintage tea cup securely glued or bolted to its matching saucer. It serves as a beautiful piece of yard decor and an excellent feeding station for small birds like finches, chickadees, and wrens.

Curious about the age-old art of paper quilling? Learn how to turn simple looking paper strips into beautiful art. Paper quilling involves paper strips that are rolled, curled, pinched, and manipulated in other ways to create designs. In this class your instructor will introduce you to the techniques and you will go home with one or more small note cards/gift tags.

The Japanese art of Sumi-e is painting on paper using a brush, ink, and water. It is simple but represents the most complex model. Create a variety of paintings that include animals, flowers, and nature such as bamboo, which symbolizes flexibility, strength, and longevity. Join us to learn techniques of painting and experience capturing the timeless beauty and the source of life and nature.
